Terror Australis have defeated General Vezax! A relatively simple fight in comparison with the others and in true TA fashion, downed him on our third attempt.

Just two more encounters remain in Ulduar for the guild and a full night tonight to work on Yogg-Saron, stay tuned.

Terror Australis went up against Mimiron in the Spark of Imagination last night, a four phase fight where an annoying little gnome mechanical bot takes control of his numerous inventions in which the raid needs to overcome with a great deal of coordination.

It is clear when the encounter starts that Mimiron was not too impressed with the raid defeating XT-002 in the Formation Grounds earlier in the instance and is of the train of thought that ‘if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself’. That may be the case for our first two visits however short they were, but not last night.

Some solid progression last night, a tribute to TA typicality. When the raid comes together, the ‘click’ is deafening. Well done to all last night, one of the more difficult encounters in the instance is under our belt and we can move onto The Descent into Madness to challenge General Vezax and Yogg-Saron.

Terror Australis succeeded in defeating another two bosses in Ulduar last night.

Thorim, a three phase fight which involves the raid segmenting into two groups, one to defeat the waves of dwarves in the arena while dodging Thorim gigantic hammer as he throw it into the arena for AOE damage, and the other group to run the gauntlet defeating the mini bosses before arriving behind Thorim himself above the arena to kick off the last phase and burn him down.

Thorim

The second boss of the night was Freya, another Maiden that can be found in the Convervatory of Life. Six waves of adds of three types, detonating lashers, treants and a pack of three (Snaplasher, Ancient Water Elemental and a Storm Lasher) while Freya is offtanked with her ridiculous self cast HOT. Once the six waves are completed, each with their own little ‘gotchya’s’, Freya’s HOT is weakened and DPS can start on Freya herself which is a short lived phase, so long as her planted seeds are evaded by the raid of course ;)

Freya

All in all, a very successful night, we move on to Morim now, one of the more difficult encounters in Ulduar, but one that will be overcome shortly no doubt.

Last night’s success on Auriaya and Ignis led to attempts on the Iron council. Fusion punch was the killer on the few attempts that we did have but this evening it clicked. A smooth kill on the council took us further into the caverns of Hodir, ironically most of us are now exalted with his sons, and here we are throwing everything we have at him.

Everything TA had, Hodir got… obviously it was too much and after just a few attempts the giant landed on the floor of ice to be burried in the cavern that he had been dwelling. A tricky encounter but not much of a challenge once the graphics of falling ice are recognized by the entire raid and the avoidance is increased.

After Hodir we progressed into the Conservatory of Life to get a taste of the Freya encounter and get some Emblems off the mini bosses that lead up to her… success was not ours this evening and with the instance reset tomorrow night, we will have to save her for later in the week.

Terror Australis pushed completion through Ulduar again tonight which saw the defeat of Ignis, Kologarn and Auriaya. Ignis and Kologarn didn’t seem like the challenge that we were expecting, most likely due to the implemented changes to tone down the encounters. Auriaya on the other hand was a road block due to problems with the pull, it came wrong when we pulled and it came right when we were not ready. /sigh. What it came down to the end was getting the initial boss engagement right and the rest came naturally.

However, a defeat is a defeat and TA are now six of fourteen bosses down in Ulduar.

Terror Australis made their second visit as a twenty-five man whole to Ulduar this evening. XT-002 Deconstructor and Razorscale were unable to hold back the Horde army and after a few attempts on each fell where they guarded and left unattended posts in the Titan Citadel for Terror Australis to regroup and prepare for the next encounter.

Ignis however, provided slightly more of a challenge, one which we could not quite rise above before the end of the evening, but one that we would hope will be posted as a new item this next week.

Three encounters beaten and 11 remaining…

Release of patch 3.1 today and the implementation of Ulduar was too much to resist. Being Wednesday, a raid night for TA we thought we would take our chances with the server and get inside to take a look.

The first boss did not present much of a challenge, a vehicle fight where waves of minions are to be destroyed and the structures that they defend resulting in Flame Leviathan, a oversized Siege Engine shows itself to get the job done….. but he failed.

Shortly afterwards, we lucked out and the server came down for a two hour maintenance window. The rest will have to wait till Sunday.

It’s nice to have something new, thanks Blizz.

I think the rush from the 3 drake kill earlier in the night inspired Terror Australis to push a bit further tonight.

The guild filled up the raid and pushed forward into Ironforge, a stealthy entrance gave the party the advantage of a suprise attack in this capital city. King Magni Bronzebeard and his guards had little chance even with the arrival of  certain alliance hero’s. The resistance proved unsuccessful and Ironforge fell to the wrath of Terror Australis.

Tyrande Whisperwind was defeated in her home town of Darnassus twenty minutes later yet Terror Australis were still not satisfied, over the next 40 minutes showed the downfall of Prophet Velen in Exodar and lastly King Varian Wrynn in Stormwind City.

Black Bears

‘For the Horde!’ achievement completed and Terror Australis was rewarded with many, many black bears! What more fitting place for a screenshot than the Alliance bank in Dalaran.

Congratulations all.

It’s been a couple of weeks in the making but tonight Terror Australis executed what could be considered the most difficult encounter in Wrath of the Lich King to date. Sartharion with his three drakes Vesperon, Shadron and Tenebron has been defeated and Foddz picked up the Reins of the Black Drake to show for it.

Congratulations all on a fantastic effort and the progression over the last two weeks that led to tonights success.

Yet another Cancon has come and gone.

Once again TA members come to Canberra from all over Aus to either play in the tournament itself or simply to meet other members of the Terror Australis team in the flesh.

Saturday night, another eventful night at Draztik and Holian’s place, with plenty of Guitar Hero and Rock band. The performance became more energetic as the night progressed, suprisingly no glass tables shattered.

Attendees: Lakus, Abarath, Ramool, Draztik, Holian, Avar, Henlas, Primordial, Darkling, Orka, Fooblet, Wilderbull, Graverose, Bigwarb, Jamesvanya and the usual Cairns crew that are bundled with Avar and Henlas ;)

Over the next week I will be gathering all the photo’s from the various cameras and uploading them to the cancon 2009 album in the TA image gallery. For now, I’ll leave this news article with the creme of what I have seen so far.

Thanks for coming guys.. till next year!
